Is the UK asset management hiring boom slowing down?

Despite the hiring boom the UK asset management has seen over the past few years, there has been a noticeable slowdown in job openings in recent months, with data from Vacancysoft showing 21% fewer jobs available in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the previous year. 

Caroline Walker, managing director at Cavendish Employment Law Limited, recently contributed towards an article in the Financial Times discussing the slowing vacancy rate. 

Caroline says there has been a "noticeable reduction" in the number of asset management vacancies in the UK since the start of this year, with the fall in hiring coming as firms increased redundancies in the past six months.

Caroline remains optimistic about the future expecting activity to pick back up, believing it’s a phase of "readjustment" and not a "worrying trend" for the future.
