In a recent Financial Times article, Caroline Walker, Managing Director of Cavendish Employment Law, comments on how air travel has changed for businesses during the pandemic. Caroline's comments from the article are noted below:

“Employers are finding that some employees have concerns about travelling and may find they are faced with grievances or potential claims if they compel an employee to travel and cause them to suffer from any illness or mental health condition,” says Caroline Walker, managing director of Cavendish Employment Law.

Ms Walker says “a best-practice employer will balance the needs of the business against the concerns of the individual”

As well as the potential risk of employees becoming ill while travelling, the past year has shown that situations can change quite quickly and governments will not hesitate to impose sudden and drastic measures to limit travel.

“Policies are also being adapted to allow for measures in place in the event that the employee cannot enter or leave a country, or if they become unwell or are required to isolate on their return,” says Ms Walker."
